MARSHALL'S COLOR CHANGING PLUMES

INVENTED AND IMPROVED BY THE LATE GREAT HORACE MARSHALL

EFFECT:   Performer displays a beautiful light blue plume, rolls into a piece paper, forming a tube. When plume is withdrawn, it has changed color into a red plume. A yellow plume is now passed through the paper tube and when it emerges from the opposite end, it has changed into a blue plume. The paper tube is unrolled and freely shown. Again the paper is rolled up and a purple plume inserted and comes out white. A pink plume is passed through the paper tube and emerges purple in color, and again the paper tube is unrolled and freely shown. A green plume is rolled up in the paper and emerges from the paper tube dark blue in color. A wand is dropped through the paper tube and the audience is shown a view through the paper tube. An orange plume is now passed through the tube and emerges green in color.

The color changes are so rapid and due to the large number of colors used no one can remember the exact routine used by the performer. In the new version, the faked and unfaked plumes are almost the same size, whereas in the old version, one very large clumsy and very obvious, suspicious plume was used. Due to the unusual number of plumes used, in addition to the various colors, all plumes appear to be the same size. The effect is dazzling in color. This is the first improvement in Color Changing Plumes in over 50 years.

CURTAIN CALL:   In the old version, the excessive large suspicious clumsy plume was rolled in the paper and the performer was at the mercy of any suspicious spectator when the paper tube was unrolled. In addition, the fact that the color changed plume just removed from the paper tube was very slender added to more suspiciousness. In the new version, the paper needs only to be wide enough to cover the gimmicked plumes. Occasionally the gimmicked plume is left in the paper tube with the thin handle being all that is left in view. In most respects, the entire plume is in spectator’s view. In addition, when displaying the gimmicked plumes with the new version, the paper tube can be unrolled and freely shown, distracting attention from the gimmicked plume.
